Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder among Funeral Directors after the First Wave of COVID-19 in Belgium

(1) Background: Studies have shown that healthcare workers an increased chance of developing post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, funeral directors not yet been studied, despite facing many same possible causes PTSS as workers. (2) Methods: An online survey was spread to home organization DELA in Belgium (n = 287). The validated scale PCL-5 used assess PTSS. Additionally, fear being infected, infecting family or friends and demographic factors (age, gender, living situations, work experience) were asked. Respondents asked indicate if they thought period when completing PCL-5. In addition, with a self-made question, respondents also compare their current stress-levels those before COVID-19. (3) Results: 107 included study. Thirteen above threshold for PTSD-diagnosis, but only four fulfilled criteria mind. PTSS-scores significantly associated infected (p 0.006). Almost majority (49.5%) felt more than COVID-19, though 33.6% no change. (4) Conclusions: Though PTSS-symptom rates lower workers, this study does show there should be attention mental health aftermath
